Last week's $117,500 dollar jackpot sure generated a lot of interest - after all who wouldn't want to win all that money? But that also generated lots of sales, which means more people were in it, meaning that more could win it!
And that's why Tonight two people have an extra $49,000 to spend after hitting Saturday night's jackpot. The winning numbers are 5, 12, 15, 18, and 32.
The winners who are both from the City - picked up their checks this afternoon at Tropical Gaming's Office on Queen Street and 7 News was there.
Joan Perrera, Lotto Winner
"I usually have my own numbers that I buy but it wasn't that, it was from a quick pick."
Monica Bodden
"So you went in the store and you buy your quick pick. Tell me how you find out that you win?"
Joan Perrera, Lotto Winner
"On the radio last night when the news was on they say that 2 person won and I check my numbers but I didn't hear exactly what it was so my son came in and I ask him what is the number for the quick pick? And he told me the number and I said that sounds like the number I have so he took his bike and went to the Chinese shop to find out the number, he came back and says yes mommy you won. I was very happy for that."
Monica Bodden
"First time ever?"
Joan Perrera, Lotto Winner
"Yes, first time for a long time."
Monica Bodden
"You are a regular lotto buyer?"
Joan Perrera, Lotto Winner
"Yeah."
Monica Bodden
"You buy it a lot?"
Joan Perrera, Lotto Winner
"Every Wednesday and Saturday I buy my lotto."
Monica Bodden
"Now when your son came back and said that you won. What was the feeling like?"
Joan Perrera, Lotto Winner
"Good, I cannot even explain it."
Monica Bodden
"Do you have any plans what you will do with the money?"
Joan Perrera, Lotto Winner
"Well as I said I have my house; I will use some for that and save a little."
Monica Bodden
"Now when you heard that not only you won but somebody else, your money kind of cut down, are you still satisfy with what you get?"
Joan Perrera, Lotto Winner
"Well it's better than nothing at all."
Sandy Cabral, Lotto Winner
"I pick a quick pick and I bought it at Belize Traders and when I look on the TV I see the numbers so I just say that I win something here. I was excited because I could use some of this money."
