Last week, a 14 year old girl was killed when a trio of armed robbers stormed into her family's grocery store on Iguana Street. Helen Yue - who was born in Belize to Chinese parents, was a second former at Edward P. Yorke.
That murder - for which there has still been no arrest - bruised the Chinese community - but they continue to be targets. This morning, it was a near miss as shots were fired wildly at another southside store.
This time the scene was 37 Fairweather Street at about 9: 30 at "UFO Kenny's Shop." According to 29 year old Fan Lin, an armed man entered the establishment and simply began firing form a pistol. He helped himself to the cash drawer from which he snatched 600 dollars. He ran off.
Luckily, no one was injured but there are reports that Lin was grazed to the ear by one of the bullets. Police continue to investigate but have not made any arrests....
