And just like those doctors, Sadie Vernon High has a troubled recent history of conflict between staff and administration and between students, staff and administration.

But they hope to start out this school year on a fresh leg. The staff and administrattion is participating in a special preparatory workshop. It is more than professional development, today when we visited they were talking about conflict mediation.

Monica Bodden found out more:...

The workshop is for only 3 days - but it aims at improving these teachers performance in the classrooms for the upcoming school year.

Laura Baptist - Principal

"We are cognizant of the fact that ministry had its own workshop for teachers and that one might want to say why workshop again at Sadie Vernon? but this administration is cognizant of the fact that there is only 3% of our teachers who have pedagogy skills and this speaks a lot about the performance at this school hence this 3 days workshops in order for us to make sure that we tailor the skills that our teachers needed for our students so that performance can improve."

It is well known that the school's administration and teachers have been at odds for some time now.

Laura Baptist - Principal
"Well you all know that changes will always take place with a new administrator and not everyone is going to be ready to work along with anybody who comes with very good ideas that will enable the school to move forward and that is still our struggle, that is still our problem."

The Principal also volunteered commented on the recent history of disputes but asked us not to use those remarks.
