BEL and its union have set the stage for a productive year ahead. The chose an auspicious day, New Year's Eve, to sign a revised Collective Bargaining Agreement.
The signing ceremony between the utility company and the Belize Energy Workers Union happened in Belmopan at the head office of the Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour and Local Government. It covers a four-year period and is the product of negotiations which began back in October 2019.
A press release from the company says that the agreement establishes a foundation for positive relationships between all employees and the electricity company. It will also maintain sustainable and responsible standards of work, benefits, and stability of employment.
