And if you've been keen to avoid all that, you've likely spent the holidays, like you were told to, indoors.

Ahead of the holidays, the MOH launched a media campaign to inspire COVID-time Christmas consciousness in an effort to limit the spread - especially amongst the young.

But with one major holiday gone and the other all but here we wondered if Belizeans have been doing their part.

"We know that you guys rolled out a media campaign for the holidays but how encouraged are you about the behaviour of the public during this season?"

Melissa Diaz - Acting DHS "Well that's a little bit difficult because behavioural change takes a long time and many of us look at TV and listen to news and hear about covid fatigue and what's happening in other countries and as humans during the Christmas season it's very difficult for us to accept for many of us, not everybody to accept that we can't socialize like before and we can't with friends and family like before. I believe that the stricter measures have been implemented, once enforced will really help us and we asked the community to help as well, if you can advise your family and their family advise our friends, so it's a collective effort for us to achieve what we want to in our country and it won't be for life long but hopefully it will help ups to save lives, help us to protect our families and I feel encourages, cautiously again but I don't see as many people out and about. It was frustrating earlier in the year for us the health team to know that we have been trying tirelessly to get these messages out and some people were still doing whatever they felt that they need to do but now I see a difference and I hope it's seen in all the districts as well, with regards to using the masks, the mask requirement I think we had a lot of success in that, as long at the mask is used properly. Some people would have their mask but might have it under the chin or you need to cover your nose, you need to cover your mouth completely. So, it's from the nose to the end of the chin and if you have goggles or if you have a face shield, that's also recommended. So, I notice that it's more and more persons are adhering and it's just something we can get used to as a community."

The COVID Christmas campaign expires this week but a new campaign on social distance measures is set to be launched in early January
