The press also asked ASR's Vice-President of International Relations to comment on the industrial fire which broke out at the Belcogen Plant in Orange Walk.

It happened on New Year's Eve. One of the facility's turbines caught fire, but the employees were able to quickly put it out before it got out of control.

Today, Mac McLachlan told us that it was a piece of equipment that BSI owned before ASR took over:

Malcolm (Mac) McLachlan - V.P. International Relations, ASR Group
"The turbine fire, yes, that was the result of the poor production, from the very beginning, of that particular turbine. This is still the Chinese equipment that we sort of inherited at BSI, and though - I believe - there was some internal issue with the turbine. Thankfully, it was noted early on, and the fire was extinguished quickly, and we're now going through the process of assessing damage and looking at where any replacements can be sought, and how quickly we can put that online. We're stilling in the process of assessing that at moment, but it is not having a material impact on the grinding capacity."

According to the company, this small industrial fire has not impacted its operations in any significant way.
