As we told you last night, the Briceno Administration has decided to give its approval for the Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relations to introduce a long-stay visitor program. It contemplates extended visitor permits for targeted visitors and nationalities, and it is aimed at encouraging tourists to stay longer through a "Work Where You Vacation" Program. Also, the Cabinet has given its approval for the Ministry of Tourism to expand and improve the Qualified Retired Persons Incentive Program.
Today, we reached out to the Belize Tourism Industry Association for comment on these developments. Via email, President Stewart Krohn told us quote, "the Belize Tourism Industry Association applauds recent initiatives by the Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relations that will make Belize more attractive to long-stay visitors including 'digital nomads' as well as retirees and second-home part-time residents." End quote.
