We also asked Dr Cuellar for his thoughts on the KHMH's board members which has raised a cry of nepotism. Several members are family relations of the Minister of Health, which puts into question whether the board can be conducted with balance and in the public interest.
Cuellar, who is a former medical chief of staff at that hospital says he's seen this movie before:
Dr. Fernando Cuellar - Internist "I think I can speak on a point of authority because remember I was at KHMH as Chief of staff for many years. I remember how the act was being developed and the way the board should have been constituted, it needed to include a cross section of the community. For example, we needed a businessperson, we needed a medical representative, we needed a legal person, we needed those things to represent the whole entire cross section of the community to manage the Karl Heusner. And if the people who are being appointed does not fit that, then obviously it's not in the best interest of the hospital."
Jules Vasquez "What type of people should be on the board and are the people who are currently designated for the board, will they provide that sort of organizational leadership?"
Dr. Fernando Cuellar "I'm not sure Jules, my thinking is no actually. And I noh want dodge the question and if what you're trying to say the ministers cousins on it and the cousin's father in law, you said Dr Hoy and I respect that he's a good friend of mine he had good capacity, the cousin is being regarded as a, I think the word used is a successful businessman. I personally don't know his successes so he has or they have to prove themselves."
Uncut repeats on Sunday morning.
