Another issue that Dr Cuellar has found in recent months is with various policy and experts groups that he has been asked to join. He said he quickly realized that his time was not being put to good use because, despite what the experts say, he claims that politicians of both blue and red strips will just have their way regardless.
Dr. Fernando Cuellar - Internist "I was invited, I joined I was there for six or seven weeks and I quietly let myself out and that's the type of person I am. I am very keen that unfortunately the politicians end up doing what they want to do many times. So, in spite of good advice, they still do many things that is outside the advice of each groups."
Jules Vasquez "Is there a single event that you can say tipped you in terms of making decision that okay, same thing, just another?"
Dr. Fernando Cuellar "The first one that I was invited and I joined and as you know I was very vocal in October/November with the way we were going and when I was invited, basically was challenged to say well shut your mouth and come help with the work. So, I joined the first medical response team, I attended quite a few meetings, I realise their line of thinking and the practices they were doing was alongside mines and there were enough brainpower in there to continue with that group. The other one that I was part of which was the vaccination group, again very brilliant minds in Belize, very knowledgeable people who do a lot of work but I was getting feedback that at the end of the day the politicians will do whatever they want so I didn't have time to waste."
