And in other utility news - the PUC, which regulates the phone, water, and electric companies has reached a secret settlement with the company that was selling it a new headquarters building. The company is named "Boutros Bou-Nahra" company and they were selling the PUC the former Mirab Building on North Front Street for a new PUC headquarters - for a reported price of 10.3 million dollars paid over 10 years.
We say "secret" because the terms of the settlement have not been disclosed - all we have is a terse PUC release which says a settlement agreement was signed between the two parties and quotes Chairman Dean Molina as saying, "We are pleased to have closure to…what would have been a long standing burden to the PUC." End quote. He also thanks the "Boutros Bou-Nahra" company for its quote, "cooperation."
But, the terms of the settlement are undisclosed - and all we know is that the Bou-Nahra group remains with the former Mirab building, and, we suspect, also with the original 13 acre property that the PUC had traded as part of the original purchase agreement.
