The marine parade near Memorial Park is one of the few aesthetically pleasing landscapes in the city - but now the broad ocean vista is being interrupted by what to us - looks like the garish imposition of a billboard.

But, the Feinstein group which erected the billboard says it's to spread the good news. It's for a development called "Ocean View Grand" - a project to constructed on North Drowned Caye, two miles East of Belize City.

They say what they call a "commemorative billboard" was installed on the seawall, quote, "100 feet away from the designated landing site for the double vehicular lanes causeway that will be connecting Belize City to North Drowned Caye (Ocean View Grand) and Stake Bank Island (Port Coral)." End quote.

The company says the Ocean View Grand project is a mixed use development project which will be fully accessible to the Belizean public. The plan is for 330 waterfront properties, coupled with a 100 room hotel, marina, water park, two tourist terminals and other amenities.

They say that Port Coral will be connected to Belize City via the causeway that passes through North Drowned Caye to Belize City.

The investment is projected at more than 100 million US each.
