Tonight's COVID numbers are chilling: 4 new deaths, 154 new cases and an alarmingly high daily positivity rate of 11.2%.
The deaths are broken down as follows: one each coming out of the Belize, Stann Creek, Cayo and Corozal Districts.
Of the 154 new cases, fully a third - or 50 of them are from Belize City.
And, as for the positivity rate of 11.2% - we haven't seen it that high in many months - and it's even more alarming when one considers that the testing totals are diluted by the number of tests of tourists added to the daily total. Take those out, and the daily positivity rate - reflecting the true numbers in the community - would be even higher.
Also, we note that the total number of deaths is now 373 - meaning - very sadly - that we are coming up on 300 deaths since the November 2020 general election when the death toll stood at 75.
