And November is also the start of the tourist high season.
Tonight, we know that the industry has seen flights and cruise ship calls cancelled but when asked about those revenue losses this afternoon Minister Mahler seemed more practical than preoccupied. Here's the advice he gave to BTIA members as TS Lisa approaches.
Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism
"We had a meeting with BTIA this morning on their board of directors and we will continue to have a dialogue with the industry but we expect to have some cancellations in flights. From the cruise sector, we have had a cancellation already and we expect more to come as the storm comes closer to Belize but all we can do is to have. Our people be as prepared as possible and to Hunker down."
