And while the cops were focused on the new body cams, a regular road surveillance cam picked up an awful act of interpersonal violence. We warn you, the video is graphic.
The incident which happened in Benque Viejo presumably over the weekend - shows an assailant approaching his victim with a two-by-four which he uses to clobber him from behind, causing him to fall to the ground. But he isn't finished there, instead, he stands over him and strikes him repeatedly in the face before going so far as to stamp him, also in the face.
It happened down south and shows a man that the COMPOL confirmed to be a former cop shouting at an elderly seemingly injured man and refusing to let him up from where he was lying on the ground.
We asked the COMPOL about this supposed rogue cop today but he clarified that the man in question is a FORMER police officer.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

"I know that. There was a video circulating on social media, just for the avoidance of any doubt because I know that channel 7 might have it and say police this and police that. We have done our investigation and the individual in the video footage is not a police. He is a former police officer, he is no longer a police and the matter is being dealt with by Independence police."
No charges have been brought.
