If you want that American ham or butterball turkey for Christmas, feel free to bring one into the country without a permit - that is, once you're coming in through the PGIA.
7News has learned from reliable sources that the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise has decreed that starting Friday, 1st December, 2023 up to 30th December 2023 Belizean families arriving via the PGIA will be allowed to bring with them one ham and one turkey per family without need for a permit from the Ministry or from BAHA. Inspection fees will also be waived on the condition that the ham or turkey has to be USDA certified, and that does not prejudice the ability of BAHA to conduct any required inspection.
