A cop is currently facing charges after he shot a man's front tire while he was intoxicated. The incident occurred at a gas station in Ladyville - which obviously poses its own fire hazards.

It all unfolded on Saturday night and today police told us the officer was slapped with several charges.

As the head of Eastern Division, ACP Romero responded directly to the incident and took the Cop's loaded 9 millimeter pistol away. He told us more about it today:

ACP Hilbero Romero, OCED
"On Saturday the 25th day of November, police responded to a report of shots fired at a Shell Gas Station area in Ladyville. Upon arrival, they met one person who reported that he was filling up gas when he was approached by another male person who had a verbal dispute with him. The person then pulled out a firearm and fired one shot towards his tire which was punctured. An investigation was carried out into this report which led to the arrest of Christon Arnold, 33 years, Belizean police officer who was charged for threatening words, discharging firearm in public, damage to property, and possession of firearm while under the influence of alcohol."

Courtney Menzies:
"We were told that this officer was a special constable who became a police officer?"

ACP Hilbero Romero, OCED
"He's a police officer attached to the Belize Police Department."

Courtney Menzies:
"So he went through the training and everything?"

ACP Hilbero Romero, OCED
"That is correct."

Courtney Menzies:
"So in this case, apart from the criminal charges, he'll also face internal disciplinary charges?"

ACP Hilbero Romero, OCED
"Yes, that is correct he will face disciplinary charges."
