The Prime Minister attended the formal launch of the program today - which we read as a tacit endorsement of ASR/BSI.

He supported the modernization:

John Briceno. Prime Minister

"I think it's a very good program, the Agro Pro program will be able to help our farmers to replant their fields, as they just pointed out earlier that we have been growing less cane as opposed to growing more cane on our land. The productivity has decreased considerably and both have been affected by climate. At one time we had a drought in 2019, onto 2020, and then 2021 we had flooding so it is important to be able now to use the science and technology. Gone are the good old days when you literally just throw the cane there and then come one year later to cut it, we have to make sure that we put the proper drainage, use the proper implements that are going to be used, and so Agro Pro is giving that opportunity to our farmers."

"What BSI is doing with Agro Pro is going to assist our farmers for them to be able to increase their yields and then for the industry as a whole to grow."
