And while Boledo revenues are up, so are the overnight tourism arrivals. That's increased by a significant 23% for the first 7 months of 2024. But cruise tourism can't say the same. Those numbers have seen a decrease of 2.6% and today Minister Mahler explained that while their strategies in the overnight sector are working, there's no getting past the lack of a berthing facility.

Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism

"Overnight is because of the marketing approach that we've done, some of the infrastructure work that we continue to do and Belize advancing as a destination. In terms of cruise, we all know that we don't have a docking facility in Belize City and we're working towards that and that is why we have the decline in numbers because the bigger cruise lines don't come to Belize, they bypass Belize because they need a docking facility and tendering is not an option."
