In September VOYSE international, a BPO company will complete 18 years in operation, with dozens of employees working well over a decade with the company.

And VOYSE is in the process of expanding their company by opening a branch in the Orange Walk District, and moving up to 90 of their employees to a more modern purpose built facility along the George Price Highway. Today they gave us a tour of the newly built office, and some insight as well on their future goals. Jomarie Lanza was there and here's how it went.

In an era where the Keep Call Centers in America Act has the entire BPO industry on a razor's edge, one service provider is forging ahead by expanding with new offices in Belize City and Orange Walk. At present, VOYSE International has well over 300 employees and pays out up to 10 million BZ in salaries annually.

John Malic, Senior VP of operations, VOYSE International

"Over the past 18 years VOYSE has gone through several different eras and a part of those eras has been moving from one location to another location. Here in Belize City alone this is our fifth move since inception in 2007. And I think it is a strong indication of investor confidence in terms of always trying to find modern facilities and new locations to provide inspirational environments for people that work in the call centre business. I think a lot of you guys are aware that whether you are talking to a customer or responding in an email or chat or sms. You have to be in a space where you feel inspired and where it is easy for you to just deal with the stress of the job every single day and that's what we really look forward to when choosing a facility."

"Part of our expansion plan is to open a second facility In Orange walk which we will be inaugurating later this afternoon."

But how do they deal with the threat of the bill and sanctions against businesses who outsource call centres to overseas centres like those in Belize? VOYSE also has another branch in the Virgin Islands and in Atlanta, and according to their CEO they they aren't allowing down anytime soon

Jimmy Whatley, CEO, VOYSE International

"So it is always interesting the US there is a lot of regulatory things and legislative things going on certainly this period of time is no different and there is certainly a lot going on but we monitor things like that and again it is very early on it's process where it may eventually go, but what we look at is we want to continue to be here. Continue the excellent work that is done here and this call centre is very well thought out. We get rave reviews from customers up in the US so we will continue to do our best and we will continue to do this and we have no plans that are different from what we have done since 2007 so we will keep going and again we will watch it and we will continue to make decisions based on whatever turns out. We see good stuff here so we will continue to go on."

The opening in Orange Walk was held at 2:00 this afternoon.
