Tren Maya Mishap in Mexico

There's been a lot of buzz about the Tren Maya in Belize this week - since the Prime Minister went to Mexico ere-iterating his request for Belize to be included on the route.

That's what many Belizeans raised their eyebrows today when the train derailed in Izamal Yucatan at the station that connects with Campeche.

So far no casualties or serious injuries have been confirmed but the derailment has disrupted service and caused delays.

Mexican news outlets say the accident raises fresh questions about the safety of the massive rail project.

The section where the derailment occurred is considered one of the key parts of the Tren Maya route.
