Recently we have heard complaints from cruise operators that the cruise ships featuring onboard Casinos are not releasing as many guests for shore excursions - because many of the cruisers would prefer to stay onboard and gamble.

Enriquez says that it's just most true because when these cruise ships dock, their on board entertainment shuts down. He explained.

Lloyd Enriquez, Director of Cruise Capacity Development, BTB
"So all the ships have Casinos on them but through the FCCA and the destination countries there is an agreement that while they are in port they can't have their casinos open so there is only one restaurant that can be open onboard the ships right now, we have ships in port there is only one restaurant. All the facilities and other things that they can enjoy aboard the ship are closed while they are in port so casino's included."
