And that leaves Speednet/SMART - which is asking for 80 million dollars in its offer to BTL.

Michael Ashcroft started out the press releases by sending out one yesterday evening making it clear that the sale of those cable companies should not be linked to the sale of SMART - which he owns 77.5% of, with the Briceno family owning the remaining 22.5%.

First, Ashcroft says that 77% share is owned by another of his famous charitable trusts, this one is called "the Waterloo Group Charitable Trust" while the remainder of the company is owned by Jaime Briceno (16.73%) and Renan Briceno (5.77%).

His release says the proposed sale of Speednet to BTL can stand up to full scrutiny and is, quote, "also not conditional on the purchase of the cable companies by BTL,"

The release adds, quote, "the combination of the revenues of both companies should result in a very substantial increase in annual cash generation for BTL and the possibility of financial payback within 4 years."
