The Belize Defence Force's Price Barracks in Ladyville today saw a terrible crime of passion - as a man stabbed his ex wife to death. But we begin our newscast further afield in the outlying areas of Belmopan City - where another murder victim - the second in three weeks was found buried. But this time there is a remarkable difference, Commissioner of Police Carmen Zetina this morning told us that police caught the killer before they found the body. A 7 news team spent most of the morning in the Rriviera Area outside of Belmopan - in the bushy and swampy back areas of a farm - where police were digging up the body of a murder victim that had been buried months ago. His identity is not being released - but it is a hispanic male. The man accused of killing him is a 30 year old honduran who is expected to be charged for murder tomorrow. In a quite stunning investigative coup, Belmopan police - who've gone form playing "Shaft" to "Sherlock Holmes" - got him to admit to the murder, before they had the body. He's apparently confessed that he killed the man, because the victim had stolen form him a number of times. So, he butchered him to death with a machete, stuffed his mangled body into a crocus sack, and dumped him in a two foot hole at the back of his farm. That was sometime in February, but police got the suspected killer to confess to it in July, when the unreported death had long been forgotten. And while the suspected murderer showed polcie where the body is, finding it was quite another ordeal as investigators have been on the scene since morning trying to find the body. Up to this afternoon, all that had been found was a leg, and police had to send for an excavator to get out the remainder. Of note is the fact that the suspected killer could be a possible suspect in three previous killings in Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras.... Ends...
