Jackers on spree pounce on cabbie

A Belize City taxi man was car - jacked last night - and may be lucky to be alive. Eston Young told Police that he picked up two men in his Ford Escort taxi at nine last night on Vernon Street. They asked to be taken to Gwen Lizarraga High School, but before they could get there, one of his passengers put a gun to his head and cranked it while they other cleaned out Young's pockets. Young wasn't about to be any hero, and dived out of his own car, leaving it to the jackers. They turned up 15 minutes later driving the very same car at the Mahagony Street home of Dawn Augustine, wearing caps, and brandishing a sawed off shotgun. She handed over 300 dollars and saw them drive off in the brown taxi. Neither the culprits, nor the car, have been found.
