What was supposed to be an adventurous experience for one visiting tourist ended tragically when the unfamiliar currents of the Mopan river claimed her life. At three yesterday afternoon Lisa Hopkins a U.S. National, Amy Pierre and Edward tut a businessman of the Cayo district all went kayaking. They were traveling in individual crafts when they came upon a part of the river that had a very strong undercurrents. Pierre and tut were able to maneuver through it, but Lisa Hopkins was not so fortunate as the kayak she was in overturned.Hopkins tried to swim to safety, but was pulled under. When her body was recovered, she was pronounced dead.
