Last night we reported on a chopping incident in Bullet Tree Village where two men ended up at the KHMH with one of them losing his ring finger. Early Monday morning two men, Daniel and Isais Mendez allegedly went to the residence of Maria Eraso and began to insult her. After that, her husband Jose Eraso had a violent fight with the pair and subsequently lost his ring finger, which was allegedly bitten off by Isais Mendez, who was defending his brother Daniel who had been chopped numerous times on his head and arms. But like that hit song, Daniel today told us nutton no go so. Speaking form his hospital bed where he is recovering form multiple chop wounds, he claims his brother didn't bite off anyone's finger - in fact he thought Eraso was his friend:

Saturday night I was going home when the young man came out of with his machete but I didn't know that it was me he was going to chop, since we were friends. He suddenly stayed behind me, and when I turned around, he had already chopped me. I then ran off about 100 feet or more away from him but he chased me until he caught me with the machete. I don't know why he did this because we were friends. I didn't expect this that's why I trusted, and he chopped me. I didn't know he was going to chop me. When he was chopping me, I fell to the ground and I managed to grab a stick and I hit him. He was holding the machete and I hit him on his finger and on his head. I hit him on the finger which he had on the machete and that's when his finger fell off. It's not that I had anything, any machete. If I didn't have that stick I think he would have killed me.
Eraso has been treated and released, but police have not yet laid charges.
