Did BDF drill instructors push too hard and if so are they criminally responsible for the death of 20-year-old recruit, Rafael Pop?

That's what Chief Magistrate Herbert lord and four jurors will determine in a coroner's inquest that started today. Pop died from heat exhaustion after collapsing during a running drill in May of 2003. Two other soldiers also collapsed from heat exhaustion - but recovered at the KHMH.

Pop never regained consciousness and had to be placed on a life support at the KHMH. Three days later when he showed no sign of brain activity, the doctors pulled the plug on the respirator and he died shortly after.
