If you're ever lost abroad, lost your passport or lost all recall of what Foreign Minister Hon. Godfrey Smith looks like - the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website could be your lifesaver.
The site was launched today and Minister of Foreign Affairs Godfrey Smith says that the site will be accessible by the public while serving as a platform for international communication within the Foreign Service.
Hon. Godfrey Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs
"It has two aspects - a front end and a back end. The back end is called a knowledge network and reason we did it was to try to ensure proper coordination and flow of information between foreign affairs headquarters in Belmopan and our missions abroad. Everything we have at headquarters we will try and upload onto the knowledge network. It will be password protected obviously so this knowledge network is not for everyone, only for us at foreign affairs and our missions abroad."
"Then there is the front end which is a simple website that aims to provide as much as possible updated information whether it be press release, there is a library that has stuff pertinent to foreign affairs whether it be speeches, statements at international events, treaties - various international and bilateral treaties and so on."
"When you combine all the various departments, organizations and institutions that are online the collective package ensures there is a heavier Belize presence internationally."
