Police are looking for a suspect or suspects in the slaying of a man in Belize City.

At around 6:30 this morning police were called out to the corner of Mahogany and McKay streets where they found 33 year old William Staine face down in a drain. He had been stabbed numerous times and was left dead on the street side. Now even as police are looking for the culprit a bereaved mother is doing the same.

Alfonso Noble Reporting,
It is not quite clear what happened but at around 6:30 this morning police were called out here to the corner of Mahogany and McKay streets where the body of 33-year-old William Staine was found just a block away from his home. He had a large cut wound to the neck and as many as seventeen stabs to the upper chest area. His mother Althea Neal says she last saw him around 11 last night after he ran an errand for her.

Althea Neal, Mother of Murder Victim
"I saw my son around 11 last night when he came home to eat bread and that was the last time I saw him."

It was not until this morning that Neal got the news that her son had been found. She says that while he would always be in the neighborhood he didn't get into trouble with anyone. He was known in the area as a carwash man, doing odd jobs. She believes this hustling around that led to his death.

Althea Neal,
"This morning they came to tell me he was stabbed. That's what they told me but I don't know for sure because the post mortem isn't completed yet. I heard he got a lot of stab wounds and like a cut on his neck but I don't know. I didn't see him."

"I feel because my son is out on the street late at night maybe he saw something and that's why they killed him and that's my belief and nobody can take that away from me."

"They killed my son and they just dashed him away because my son is not the kind of person that interfere with people or even thief but from I came to live here my son lived. He used to always come nobody how late at night he always come knocking for me to open the door."

But last night he never made that call and now his mother says she'll soon know who killed her eldest child.

Althea Neal,
"My son is dead but you can bet I will find out who killed him."

That bet may now only serve as consolation as this 33 year old life's will never be returned.

At news time, police had no suspects.
