Robber Caught In The Act!

This morning the odds turned against a chain snatcher as he was caught by watchful residents on Central American Boulevard.

At Around 9:30 a young lady was walking on the boulevard and heading into Mahogany Street when a man rode up on her and snatched her chain. It would have been a clean getaway had it not been for alert residents who saw the crime and caught the man as he was escaping.

Our 7NEWS team was on the scene as police arrested 30-year-old Fernando Eligio. He was placed in the back of a police pickup truck where residents looked on at his scratches on his arms and legs from a fall he sustained during the capture. It is expected that he will be charged with either robbery or attempted robbery.
