If the name "Roxi's Place" sounds familiar it is because last year a waitress who was working at the bar had her hand severed by a drunk patron.
Well the infamous address on Otro Benque road in Orange Walk Town is in the news again and it's not good. Two of the proprietors were charged after a 14-year-old girl caught working at the very adult Orange Walk hot spot.
The bust and subsequent arrest are being hailed by police as the first success of the trafficking in persons task force. Last week Wednesday the 14 year old was found at the bar and police hauled in the owner, 50 year old Mildred Villanueva and her son 23-year-old Abad Ayuso. Today in court Mildred Villanueva pleaded guilty to the charge of trafficking in persons. With the charge against her son dropped, she was fined one $1,000 or in default 12 months in prison.
