Belizean Clarence Adolphus first made a name for himself in the 1970s as a rising young basketball star on our national team.

Now 30 years later, the 47 year old is again in the international headlines only this time he is accused of running a drug smuggling ring between the U.S. and Mexico.

According to an indictment filed in a Los Angeles court, Adolphus used his private charter jet company, Smooth Air Aviation, to import marijuana, cocaine, and other drugs from Guadalajara, Mexico into to the U.S. He allegedly told drug traffickers that they should use his service because his jets did not go through regular security checks like the commercial airlines. Adolphus pleaded not guilty to money laundering and conspiracy to distribute drugs charges.
