It's a shocking crime in a small village as a 17-year-old student attending the University of Belize's Belmopan campus was murdered over the weekend.
Trinidad Sanchez was chased, beaten, and stabbed to death by a gang of young men in August Pine Ridge village on Saturday night.
Witnesses tell 7NEWS that Sanchez had just left a church gathering when the gang started to chase him. He sought refuge in a store but the owner chased him out. That is when he met his death as the rowdy gang of outlaws caught up to him and started to beat him. He suffered fatal stab wounds with a knife to his right lung and heart.
24-year-old Rene Murillo was also stabbed during the ruckus but he refused treatment. He has since been detained along with another young man but police don't believe either to be the one who issued the fatal injuries.
Meanwhile 17-year-old Trinidad Sanchez who was studying natural resources at UB will be buried tomorrow. Alfonso Noble will have the story from August Pine Ridge village in the Orange Walk district in tomorrow night's newscast.
