Clayton White, the Lake Independence man who allegedly went into Dangriga resident, John Lambey's residence armed and prepared to take him hostage, only to get beaten to within inches of his life today appeared in court.

He pleaded guilty to possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, but not guilty to aggravated burglary. With that Magistrate Eric Fairweather remanded him to prison until August 5th.

In an exclusive interview, the Stann Creek Star newspaper quotes white as saying that he had gone to Dangriga from Belize City as enforcement for a man who wanted to buy a kilo of cocaine for $10,000; $4,000 less than it is sold for in Belize City. White told the Star that he stayed outside, and then saw his boss bolt out of the house, and before he could run 6 men took him hostage and beat and chopped him with the machete.

We note that this account differs sharply from the one given by John Lambey who claims, White shot at him, but the gun misfired and that's when he chopped him with the machete. At any rate, since that encounter last week Tuesday, on Thursday, police found 1.4 kilos of cocaine buried in Lambey's yard.
