The woes for 34 year old Martha Palma seem to be never ending as the domestic abuse victim was taken to court today. She was arraigned before Magistrate Earl Jones where she was charged with a mischievous act.

Well if you're asking what is the mischievous act, You might be surprised to know. On September 10 of last year she complained that she had been brutally beaten by her common law husband Emmerson Eligio. Beaten so badly that her jaw was broken, one of her legs was fractured and she had numerous abrasions to her head and body. At the time she swore that she would testify against Eligio. But when the case came up in April, the pair came to court together where she made it clear that she didn't want to testify, and wanted the fairly serious charges of attempted murder, grievous harm, attempted dangerous harm and attempted suppression of evidence withdrawn. In our world, it's a change of heart, but according to the DPP's office, that's a mischievous act. She pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail of $500.
