American Woman Murdered in the South

An American woman has been brutally murdered in Southern Belize and police have four suspects detained.

73 year old Mary Jane Blondell was found dead 350 yards from her home which sits between miles 31 and 32 on the Hummingbird Highway. Blondell's home which also offers bird watching to tourists is six miles in from the road. So far police have determined that sometime over the weekend a group of men tied her up, raped her, stabbed her multiple times and then buried her in a shallow grave. They then burglarized her home. Police have not said if and when the 4 detainees will be charged.
