It's as disturbing a case of sexual assault as you'll ever hear and tonight a 14 year old girl is in jail, an 11 year old boy is out on bail, and the only adult in the mix, a 22 year old tour guide is also in jail after a female student claims she was sexually assaulted at knife point.
The alleged victim says that on Saturday July 17th she was at the Hibiscus Street home of her friend the 14 year old girl when the tour guide Clive Hyde allegedly began fondling her. She claims the 14 year old girl closed the door, tore off her blouse, and stripped off her jeans pants while 22 year old Hyde and the 11 year old boy sexually assaulted her. And while she was being assaulted, she claims her 14-year-old friend placed a knife to her throat.
It's a sordid tale and all three accused appeared before Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord today charged with aggravated assault. The 14-year-old girl was additionally charged with damage to property, and abetment to aggravated assault. The 14-year-old girl was denied bail and sent to the Hattieville prison considering that she has escaped from the youth hostel twice, and also broken a prison warden's hand. Clive Hyde meanwhile was also denied bail. $2500 bail was granted to the 11 year old. All three are due back in court one month from today on August 26th.
