Belize's Solicitor General, Elson Kaseke is in custody of the FBI tonight after he was arrested in the state of Virginia yesterday.
Kaseke was flying to Washington D.C. to attend an OAS conference when he got into a misunderstanding with the flight crew. According to our reports, Kaseke demanded to move about the cabin during the descent into Washington D.C. Since 9/11 this has been strictly banned in the last half-hour before the plane touches down in the U.S capital. But according to our reports Kaseke wasn't having it and when he insisted, he was arrested.
This we note is considered a federal violation breaking the regulations of the Homeland security office. It's a serious matter and Kaseke has been in detention for the last 24 hours, and is expected to be arraigned tomorrow morning.
7NEWS has confirmed that our embassy in Washington has retained an attorney for him. As we understand it the strategy is for him to get bail, or possibly plea guilty and receive a fine. Whatever the case, it's unclear what will be the fate of Kaseke when he returns to Belize.
