He could have bought it at any hardware store for only a couple dollars but a shotgun cartridge will cost Ervin Reneau $10,000. The 23-year-old was busted by a police and BDF patrol early Sunday morning when they observed him looking suspicious. That gave them a reason to search Reneau and in his front pocket they found one flare gun which contained an orange colored 12-gauge cartridge. Reneau said he didn't have a gun license and that is when he was arrested. Reneau was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord this morning where he pleaded guilty to keeping ammunition without a license. Lord fined the 23 year old $10,000 and gave him depending on how you look at it an easy payment plan. Reneau will have to pay $250 every two weeks and by our math he will be paying for the $2 cartridge for the next 80 weeks. It is either 80 weeks of payments or default to a year in prison.
