A police sergeant is on interdiction tonight pending disciplinary charges. Commissioner of Police Jose Carmen Zetina today told us that CIB Sergeant Ainsworth Perez is off duty after Perez was not able to produce money evidence that had been requested of him.
On the 3rd of this month, a request was made that Perez produce US$4,000 that was in evidence at his office but we understand he was unable to because he was out of the city. When he finally came in to his office the following day he was relieved of his firearm and office keys. Turns out however that the money was in his office. Nonetheless, he was locked up and interdicted on disciplinary charges because he was unable to produce the evidence when it was requested of him.
The evidence in question is US$4,000 that was recovered from the March 1 burglary of Tenchtronics that netted burglars over $35,000. Perez is to face a tribunal next week Tuesday in which his fate with the department will be determined.
