Orange Walk police this afternoon picked up a key suspect in a weekend murder that has left a trail of clues for investigators. 39-year-old Ghan-Shayam Alam-Chandani was found dead dressed only in his underwear, in his apartment on Cemetery Street in Orange Walk on Saturday morning. Alam-Chandani, who was a moneychanger and lived a alone - and had last been seen on Thursday night by his landlord. Investigators believe that he allowed a visitor into his home that night and that person later killed him. They say he let the visitor in because there were no signs of forcible entry in the apartment and it showed no signs of having been burgled, in fact, over $100 in cash was found lying around. A post mortem showed that the killer first tried to suffocate Alam-Chandani with a pillow and when that didn't work he then took out a knife and stabbed him 10 times mostly to the head, making the fatal wound to the temple area where the knife crushed through the skull and caused a brain hemorrhage.
