In April of 2000, American-Belizean Wendy Chamberlain made national headlines when she bravely spoke out on 7NEWS after she was allegedly followed and violently raped in her home in Placencia. After he very public tragedy, it seems the 49 year old quietly passed away last week in Santa Elena town. Over the weekend Cayo police say they found Wendy's decomposed body in her home after her neighbors on Loma Luz Boulevard smelt a foul odor. The results of a post mortem were inconclusive due to the advanced state of decomposition. A release from the police say they do not suspect foul play since she had a mental condition and suffered from high blood pressure. Wendy was last seen alive last Tuesday November 30th. Dawn Sampson's compelling interview with the very courageous Wendy back in 2000 won her a PAHO regional health award.
