And just a stone's throw away from where a man was murdered this afternoon, there were bullets this evening. Shortly after 5 this evening on Dolphin Street in front of Belize Dry Cleaners, a gunman apparently shot random shots in the air. No one was injured but it left the neighborhood rattled. Gripped by fear, an eyewitness wished to remain anonymous but she told us what happened.
Witness to Shooting,
"When I was looking to run towards the bathroom I saw a bike down there. The reason why I know it was gunshots was because on my way to the bathroom I saw smoke. That is the only reason I know it was gunshots, because of the smoke. I got scared and so we ran towards the bathroom, me and my next two co-workers."
Keith Swift,
You said you saw a bike on the ground?
Witness to Shooting,
"A bike was on the ground but by the time we came up from the bathroom, somebody had picked up the bike."
Keith Swift,
You think that bike belonged to the shooter?
Witness to Shooting,
"It had to be for the shooter."
Keith Swift,
Did you see the shooter or who he was targeting?
Witness to Shooting,
"No I didn't see the shooter. But honestly I thought that it was towards the dry cleaners because it was so close. The noise was deafening so I thought it was downstairs of the dry cleaners."
Keith Swift,
Did he actually shoot into the dry cleaners?
Witness to Shooting,
"No I thought that because I was by the dryer so I thought it was by the dry cleaners because the sound was so deafening so I thought that was towards the dry cleaners."
Keith Swift,
How scary was this for you being that this happened at 5 pm, broad daylight?
Witness Shooting,
"Its quite scary. We're not safe anymore."
Police are investigating the shooting.
