Chain Snatcher Gets 5 years

He jacked a gold chain this afternoon but the law caught up with chain snatcher 28 year old Bernard Dawson and tonight he is in jail. At 1:30 this afternoon Irma Gonzalez was walking on Eve Street when Dawson accosted her grabbing her by the shoulder and then running off with a gold chain from around her neck. He didn't get far though because Gonzalez's co-workers made a citizen's arrest and meted out some vigilante justice, getting in a few licks after he handed over the gold chain. He was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord and pleaded guilty to robbery. He was sentenced to 5 years in jail. The gold chain is valued at $1,000.
