Ever since civil unrest began in January Assistant Commissioner Crispin Jeffries has been at the forefront of the national consciousness. Sure enough, more than just a fearless officer, Jeffries has a sense of the moment, a sense of theater, and isn't afraid to ham it up for the cameras. But, people who've seen him at work say he's not just a harmless poseur, he's also chancey and evidence of that came on Wednesday when he grabbed and shoved 19-year-old SJC student Nazima Reyes. With that many called for Jeffries to be pulled from the frontline. But his critical can call al they want, yesterday, the Commissioner of Police stood by his officer commanding eastern division.

Gerald Westby, COMPOL
"I think Mr. Jeffries must be commended. He did a commendably good job. He acted with great restraint. He asked the media, went on the media, asking the people to ask their parents and he was out there on the ground and we were discussing and I supported Mr. Jeffries and gave him directive. We were acting with great restraint seeing it was students but you must understand there were hooligans and criminals who were hell bent on exploiting the situation and people who incite violence must be held accountable."

Jeffries is third in command in the Police Department.
