A teenaged boy almost lost part of his ear after a machete attack early this morning.
16-year-old Shane Jones told police that at about 2 am he left his grandmother's house and was heading to his West Collet Canal home when he stopped to shelter from the rain. He sought shelter in a yard when he was approached by a man who asked him why he was in the yard. Words were exchanged and Jones says the man pulled out a machete and chopped him across the ear.
Jones was taken to the KHMH where he was treated for the large cut which sliced a piece of his ear and the back of his head. The wound was large but not deep and it was easily stitched. Jones remains hospitalized while police are tonight searching for his attacker. The only thing Jones can tell cops about the man is that he was shirtless.
