And, in news just in, a spokesperson for Attorney General and Chairman of the PUP, Francis Fonseca called our newsroom after our headline story to make a statement on behalf of the Attorney General. As Chairman he says that "in no way does the party condone those types of actions." And as Attorney General, he says that Channel 7 is free to approach him on the matter officially and he is prepared to ask the police for a full disclosure on everything on this case.
We welcome the AG's statement for its sobriety and intent to set things right, but will note that we are very reliably informed that what has turned the investigation around is the political nature and that fact that the person accused of setting up the contract is well connected politically.
