Brothers Matthew and Rudolph Moses visited our studios yesterday complaining that on Monday morning they were at home at mile 18 on the Western Highway when they became aware that someone had ran off the road. When they went to investigate they found a police inspector had ran off the road and was badly injured. They did the logical thing and called for assistance. That's when they say they were turned from good Samaritans to bad guys.

Mathew Moses,
"When I ran out there we were running towards the vehicle so I stopped and I told the man we are not going into the vehicle because we are not BDF or Police. The man stopped and we called the police. We waited half-hour and no police didn't come so we called back and the lady officer told us to wait on the line and tell her what is happening on the scene. So we were out there waiting and the officer came and we waived them down ourselves. When they got there the man was babbling in the water up and down. He threw off his slippers and he ran into the water and I lifted him up to stop him from inhaling the water. Then he called the next two officers and they helped carry him to the side of the street.

We have been charged. They took us to court and they had us in the jail from Sunday night 3 o'clock until Monday evening 8 o'clock. They charged us for a theft of a battery and we saved this man's life so why would we get charged for a battery."

Rudolph Moses,
"This thing started after they already took the man and the police they started to search. We went to our house and 10 minutes after the police came to our door and said they didn't find the officer's gun and we are telling them lie. They started to ransack two of houses saying they are looking for a gun. They took us to the station and locked us up after that. They woke us up the morning 6 o'clock and told us were released because they think the gun is right in the mud and water in front of the place and if we would go up there back and help them dig in the mud to find this gun. We told them we weren't digging up in any mud because we weren't with the police when he crashed and we didn't tell him to crash. They locked us up for the whole day until 9 o'clock Monday night when Mr. Jeffries called and then they gave us bail.

I would tell anybody that if you see anyone on the road bawling because they are in an accident its best you keep away because you see we helped the man and we got charged. This man had on his Rolex watch, cell phone, a chain around his neck, his wallet full of money, and they found this man with all of that and we didn't take any of that but we would take a battery? It doesn't make no kind of sense."

Mathew Moses,
"He had told me to help this man out of the water and I told him that we didn't help this man out of the water and this is the charge we got. Supposed we had helped him out of the water?"

The Moses brothers have been charged with theft of a car battery after police found that the vehicle's hood had been pried open and taken from inside was the car's battery. In addition police found that the car's radio had been pulled out of place and was found in the driver's seat.
