DJ Illmatic is a self-taught master on the ones and the twos, sharing the stage with chart toppers like Lil Kim and DMX. Well after 12 years and 50 mixtapes Illmatic, aka the Belizean Bomber, has returned home. Illmatic hit town last month and since then he has been busy working on a new CD with local musical outfits such as Hotwire and Heights A Vibe. Illmatic says he is taking a page from Reggaeton and is hoping to introduce "Puntaton" to the world.

DJ Illmatic,
"My purpose basically is to start and find those hungry Belizean artists that want the production skills and get their music out on a larger scale. Pretty much there is a lot of excellent local talent here in Belize and I feel that it just needs someone to go in and start pushing them to give them a worldwide appeal. Basically I've worked with a lot of artists, mostly on a lot of tours. I am signed to Rawkus Records which is a independent label in states. I've worked on many tours, the Lyricist Lounge Tour, and currently I am on the tour with Jon B, the platinum selling recording artist. So I've had the opportunity to work with a lot of different people in the industry and gained a lot of experience as well."

Keith Swift,
I know you are trying to do something with Punta Rock and Hip-Hop. Tell us about that.

DJ Illmatic,
"Well actually I really want to. A lot of people might know about the reggaeton craze that is going on out of Puerto Rico and I feel that Punta Rock here in Belize could have the same effect on a worldwide scale by remixing it, putting it together with reggae, hip-hop, and punta rock and it can make its own craze and name for itself on a worldwide basis which is also giving exposure to those artists such as Aziatic and many more like Punta Rebels and them."

DJ Illmatic has just released the 'Many Moods of Michonne.'
