The Chairman of San Joaquin Village Jorge Sima who is also a money changer reported to Corozal police that at around 4:30 yesterday afternoon he was at his home when two men of Creole descent came calling on him. When he responded the men told him that they wanted to change some money. He went back inside and came out with his bag of money and as he did so one of the men pulled out a gun believed to be a 9 millimeter and demanded that Sima hand over the bag containing about $50,000. The men then made their escape. Police have since detained 5 men from the George Street area of Belize City. But there is another side to the story and police are investigating the matter to verify if Sima story is accurate or if it was an illicit transaction that went bad.
